Payment Orchestration Guide

Payment orchestration adds an advanced technology layer for routing, rules, automation, customization and transaction control. It does not replace underwriting, acquiring, settlement or compliance.

Architecture

Gateway, PSP, acquirer and orchestrator are different roles. With either a gateway or orchestration platform, the merchant can integrate technically once with the platform while it manages the PSP integrations it supports.

Routing

Orchestration adds advanced routing, rules, cascading/failover, automation and customization that can provide greater control and optimization for transaction flows where supported by the platform.

Redundancy

If a required PSP is not already integrated, it can be presented to the platform for evaluation. If accepted, the platform performs the technical integration; the decision depends on its technical, commercial, security and compliance criteria.

Settlement

Centralized technical integration does not eliminate commercial relationships: contracts, onboarding, compliance, pricing and settlement may remain specific to each connected PSP or provider.
